The Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) is looking for a Principal Platform Developer to join the Enterprise Applications team. This is an opportunity for an experienced individual to design, develop, deploy, maintain, and improve the portfolio of applications to deliver services to the City’s workforce and constituents. These applications must deliver value to the City while creating an experience that is welcoming, and highly useful to users.
The Principal Platform Developer interfaces across several business departments and outside vendors to proactively assist in the direction of applications development and integration for current and future projects.
We are looking for a resourceful individual to lead Salesforce applications development activities, and engage throughout the development lifecycle (including design, development, deployment, maintenance) of the following types of solutions:
- Business applications (web, mobile native or / and responsive design based) hosted in a hybrid environment (cloud, on premises) and leveraging Salesforce, AWS, Azure technology platforms
- Integration across solutions leveraging APIs, Web Services, or Middleware
- Data persistence and retrieval (structured, semi-structured, or unstructured information)
- Reporting and dashboarding (Salesforce analytics services and other tools)
The Principal Platform Developer needs to demonstrate analytical mindset, technical knowledge and the ability to learn new technologies to effectively support our existing platforms that enable the City to operate. Additionally, this position needs to be able to balance maintenance of current systems with continuous innovation.
The Principal Platform Developer is expected to perform hands on development as needed.

The Department of Innovation and Technology is looking for an experienced, collaborative Associate HCM Developer to join our Boston Administrative Information System (BAIS) team.
As a member of a highly-collaborative group managing the City Human Resources technology solutions, the Associate HCM Developer will provide development expertise as we manage and expand our HCM solution. The Associate HCM Developer will work closely with other development and technical staff, functional staff, project managers, and external partners across City government. This position will provide technical recommendations and complete complex tasks as we develop and expand our HCM enterprise solutions. The system recently went through a significant upgrade, enabling us to transform the way employees interact with their personnel information. We are looking for an innovative individual who can drive fixes and enhancements that provide users with an experience that is beautiful, welcoming, and highly useful.
